3D Floor Plan Maker

Draw in 2D and the 3D floor plan maker shows the same plan as a model while you work: walls at their real height, doors and windows cut into them, furniture in place. Orbit around it or walk through at eye level.

One model, two views

There is no separate 3D drawing to keep up to date. The 2D plan and the 3D view show the same project, so moving a wall, resizing a window or adding a sofa appears in both at once.

Split view puts them side by side, which is the quickest way to see how a change on the plan feels as a space. Press 2 or 3 to jump between the views.

3D features

  1. Built on a measured 2D plan

Walls, doors and windows are placed on the scaled top-down drawing, with typed lengths and dimension lines; the model follows every change.

  2. Real wall heights and openings

New walls start 2.7 m (8'10") high and 150 mm (about 6 in) thick; change the defaults in Settings or one wall at a time. Doors and windows are cut through the walls at their sill height.

  3. Orbit and walk modes

Drag to orbit, right-drag to pan and scroll to zoom, or switch to Walk and move around at eye level with W, A, S and D.

  4. Multi-floor buildings

See every floor stacked at its floor-to-floor height, or isolate the floor you are editing.

  5. Stairs and floor openings

Straight, L-shaped, U-shaped and spiral stairs appear in 3D, with an opening cut in the floor above.

  6. Furniture at real size

Library items appear as simple shapes at their real width, depth and height, so you can judge clearances and sightlines.

  7. 3D images

Save the current 3D view as a PNG at a chosen size to send to family, clients or a builder.

How to make a 3D floor plan

  1. Draw the plan

Draw rooms and walls in 2D, or open a template.

  2. Set heights

Choose the default wall height in Settings, or change one wall at a time in its properties.

  3. Add openings and furniture

Doors, windows and furniture appear in the model as soon as you place them.

  4. Explore

Switch to 3D or Split, orbit around, then press Walk to look around at eye level.

When 3D helps

  1. Checking proportions

A room that looks generous on paper can feel narrow once the wardrobe and bed are in place.

  2. Explaining an idea

A 3D view is easier for family members or clients to read than a technical drawing.

  3. Comparing options

Duplicate a project, try a different layout in the copy, and walk through both.

  4. Seeing stairs and levels

Check how a stair lands on the floor above before you commit to its position.

Limits of the 3D view

The 3D view is a working model for judging layout, scale and circulation: walls and floors with paint colours or photo textures, roofs drawn as surfaces, openings, stairs, columns and box-style furniture, under day, dusk or night lighting. It does not render photorealistic images. You can save a PNG image of any view, or export the model as a GLB or OBJ file for other 3D software.

The 3D view needs WebGL. If a browser cannot provide it, the editor says so and the 2D plan keeps working.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to draw the 3D model separately?

No. The 3D model is generated from your 2D plan and updates with every edit.

Can I walk through the plan?

Yes. Choose Walk through in the 3D view. Drag to look around and use W, A, S and D or the arrow keys to move; walls stop you and doorways let you through. On a phone, drag to look and hold the on-screen arrows to walk.

Can I see one floor at a time?

Yes. Isolate the floor you are editing to hide the others in 3D, which makes it easy to look into a lower floor from above.

What if 3D does not load?

The 3D view needs WebGL. If your browser or device cannot provide it, the editor tells you and the 2D plan keeps working normally.

Can I export the 3D model?

Yes. Save the current view as a PNG image, or export the model as a GLB or OBJ file from the Export menu.

Are the 3D views photorealistic?

No. Walls and floors can take a paint colour or a photo texture such as tile, wood, stone or brick, and walls can be glass, but furniture uses simple shapes. Use it to check space, colour and proportions.
