Layout overview

The dining room is 12.00 × 8.00 m (39′ 4″ × 26′ 3″). The tables are laid out in three rows, with the space in front of the entrance left clear so guests are not seated in the doorway.

The 6.00 × 4.00 m (19′ 8″ × 13′ 1″) kitchen has its cooking line along the back wall, two fridges by the side wall and a prep counter in the middle. The storeroom opens from the kitchen, and the two restrooms open from the dining room.

Sizes and areas are measured to the center lines of the walls, the same way the editor’s area schedule measures them, so each room’s clear floor is slightly smaller.

What makes this layout work

  1. A clear entrance

No table sits directly inside the front door, leaving room for guests to arrive and wait.

  2. Kitchen door near the tables

The kitchen door opens into the back of the dining room, close to the tables.

  3. Storage off the kitchen

The storeroom opens from the kitchen, so staff fetch stock without going back through the dining room.

  4. Two separate restrooms

Each restroom has its own door from the dining room.

Who this template suits

  1. A café or restaurant fit-out

Test seating layouts and see how many tables fit.

  2. An event layout

Rearrange the tables for a function and export a PDF for staff.

  3. A staff canteen

Use the dining room and kitchen as a starting point for a workplace canteen.

Things to consider

  1. Gangways run front to back

Between the columns of tables there is at least 1.80 m (5′ 11″). Between the rows the chair backs come within 0.10 m (4″) of each other, so staff cannot pass there once guests sit down.

  2. Space per seat

The dining room gives each of the 32 seats about 3.0 m² (32 sq ft). Your local rules on occupancy and exits decide how many seats you can have.

  3. A simple kitchen

The plan has counters, two stoves and two fridges, but no dishwasher or extraction hood; add them from the Kitchen category of the library. There is no pass, so mark one with a counter and a text label.

  4. Restroom doors face the tables

Both restroom doors open into the dining room. A short lobby or screen keeps them out of sight of the nearest tables.

Make it fit your space

  1. Change the seating

Duplicate a table and each of its chairs (Ctrl/⌘ D), or make tables smaller by typing a new width and depth in the properties panel.

  2. Rearrange the kitchen line

Move counters, stoves and fridges; add a dishwasher and a range hood from the library, and label a pass with text (T).

  3. Check the gangways

Measure between tables with the measure tool (M) so staff can pass with trays.

Frequently asked questions

How many seats does the template have?

32 chairs at 8 tables of four. Each table is the library's 1.60 × 0.90 m (5′ 3″ × 2′ 11″) dining table.

Does it include kitchen equipment?

It uses the library's counters, 2 stoves and 2 fridges. The library's Kitchen category also has a dishwasher and a range hood; for equipment it lacks, such as a pass, place a counter in its spot and label it with the text tool (T).

How big are the dining room and the kitchen?

Dining room 12.00 × 8.00 m (39′ 4″ × 26′ 3″) (96.0 m² (1033 sq ft)); kitchen 6.00 × 4.00 m (19′ 8″ × 13′ 1″) (24.0 m² (258 sq ft)). The storeroom and the two restrooms make up the rest.

Can I use smaller tables for two?

Yes. Select a table and type a smaller width and depth in the properties panel, then delete the chairs you no longer need; duplicate a table and its chairs to build a new row.

Does the plan show how many people the room is allowed to hold?

No. Occupancy limits come from local fire and building rules, not from the editor. Use the plan to test layouts, then check the numbers with your local authority or a professional.
