Layout overview

The studio measures 6.00 × 6.50 m (19′ 8″ × 21′ 4″) to the wall center lines. The main room takes the full width; the kitchenette and the shower room share the strip behind it.

The front door opens into the kitchenette rather than straight into the room with the bed, and the kitchenette connects to the main room through an opening without a door.

Sizes and areas are measured to the center lines of the walls, the same way the editor’s area schedule measures them, so each room’s clear floor is slightly smaller.

What makes this layout work

  1. Wet rooms side by side

    The kitchenette (3.60 × 2.00 m (11′ 10″ × 6′ 7″)) and the shower room (2.40 × 2.00 m (7′ 10″ × 6′ 7″)) share a wall, which keeps water supply and drainage in one part of the plan.

  2. The bed is out of the line of the door

Entering through the kitchenette means the sleeping corner is not the first thing you see from the door.

  3. Two zones in one room

The bed, nightstand and wardrobe sit on the left; the sofa, coffee table and rug sit on the right, near the second window.

  4. Daylight from two sides

The main room has windows on two walls, and both service rooms have a window of their own.

Who this template suits

  1. A rental studio or first flat

Check that a bed, sofa and wardrobe fit before you sign or move in.

  2. A garden room or annex

The same plan works as a self-contained annex for a guest or a relative.

  3. Student accommodation

Swap the double bed for a single bed and add a desk from the library.

Things to consider

  1. No door between sleeping and living

Guests sitting on the sofa can see the bed. If that matters, plan a screen, a curtain or a short wall early.

  2. Nowhere set aside for meals

There is no dining table; the kitchenette holds only a counter, a stove and a fridge. The library table is 1.60 × 0.90 m (5′ 3″ × 2′ 11″), so you may want to shrink it before placing it in the main room.

  3. A compact shower room

At 4.8 m² (52 sq ft), the shower room fits a shower, a toilet and a basin, with little space for storage.

  4. One wardrobe

All storage is one wardrobe. Look for wall space for shelving or under-bed storage before you settle on the layout.

Make it fit your space

  1. Set the real size

Select an outer wall and type its length. Lock the lengths you have measured so later edits keep them.

  2. Screen the bed

Draw a short wall with the wall tool (W) between the bed and the sofa. A wall that closes off a space becomes a room with its own area.

  3. Rearrange the furniture

Drag items, rotate them by 90° from the properties panel, or delete them and add your own from the library.

  4. Check it in 3D

Switch to 3D (press 3) and walk through to see how open the room feels.

Frequently asked questions

How big is the studio template?

The rooms add up to 39.0 m² (420 sq ft), and the outer walls measure 6.00 × 6.50 m (19′ 8″ × 21′ 4″) along their center lines. The main room alone is 27.0 m² (291 sq ft).

Can I make the shower room bigger?

Yes. Drag the wall between the shower room and the kitchenette: the shower room grows, the kitchenette shrinks, and both areas update as you go.

Is there room for a dining table?

The template has none. The main room is 6.00 × 4.50 m (19′ 8″ × 14′ 9″); to add one, place the library table, type a smaller width and depth in the properties panel, and use the measure tool (M) to check the space left to walk round it.

Does editing the studio change this template?

No. Edit This Floor Plan creates your own copy as a new project, saved in this browser. The template on this page stays as it is, so you can open a fresh copy at any time.

Can I see the studio in feet and inches?

Yes. Every size on this page is given in both systems, and in the editor you can switch units from the top bar at any time; the walls keep their real lengths.
